3. What We Don't Use

We do not use any of the following:

Session cookies - Our website doesn't require login
Third-party tracking scripts - No Hotjar, Intercom, Mixpanel, etc.
Fingerprinting - No device fingerprinting techniques

4. Local Storage

We use localStorage (not cookies) for your theme preference. The key differences:

localStorage data is not sent to our servers with every request (unlike cookies)
It stays in your browser until you clear it manually
It's only used locally to improve your browsing experience

How to Clear localStorage

To clear the theme preference stored by FieldEco:

Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Clear Browsing Data → Cookies and other site data
Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Clear Data → Cookies and Site Data
Safari: Settings → Safari → Clear History and Website Data
Edge: Settings → Privacy, search, and services → Clear browsing data

Alternatively, you can clear it for just this site using your browser's Developer Tools (F12 → Application → Local Storage → fieldeco.app → Right-click → Clear).

5. Third-Party Services

Our website uses minimal third-party services:

Hosting (Netlify)

Our website is hosted on Netlify
Netlify may collect standard server logs (IP address, request time, pages visited) for security and performance

No Other Third Parties

We don't embed:

Social media widgets (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn buttons)
Third-party fonts that track you (we use system fonts or self-hosted fonts)
External analytics or A/B testing tools
Chat widgets or customer support tools that track visitors

6. Your Choices

Since we only use essential localStorage, you have full control:

Browser Settings

Most browsers allow you to block all cookies and site data
Blocking localStorage will reset your theme preference on each visit (not a problem)
Our website will continue to work normally without localStorage

Do Not Track

We respect "Do Not Track" browser signals, although since we don't track you anyway, there's nothing to disable.

7. Mobile App

This Cookie Policy applies to the FieldEco website only.

The FieldEco mobile app has its own data practices covered in our Privacy Policy. The app uses:

SQLite database: Stores your field research data locally
AsyncStorage: Stores authentication tokens and app preferences
Firebase: Cloud sync (when you're signed in)
